World Racing Group and DIRTVision have joined others in the racing community to support Ultimate Motorsports & RV Park’s special memorial race on Father’s Day that will set up scholarships for two schools.

The Sidney Langston Memorial 50 will run on Sunday, June 16 – in memory of Sidney, who lost her life in a car accident in 2022. The event, featuring Super Late Models, Modifieds, 604 Late Models and 602 Late Models, will see all its profits go to the Langston Scholarship Fund, which will go to Wheatmore High School in Trinity, NC – the school Langston attended – and North Surry High School in Mount Airy, NC.

World Racing Group has joined Longhorn Chassis, Sheppard Riggs Racing and more, to support the scholarship and will provided World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model staff members to help with the event. DIRTVision will also provide a FREE live broadcast of the race – available by signing up for a free account.

“I’ve always said if I ever owned a racetrack I’m going to do something special,” said Bobby Koehler, owner of Ultimate Motorsports Park. “I knew it would mean a lot to Matt (Langston, Sidney’s dad) to incorporate his family in it, and it would mean a lot to the community.

“We’ve had an outpouring of support from people wanting to help on this event. It’s literary a fundraiser. I’m donating the track and my staff… Everybody in the racing community have stepped in to support this.”

Several stars in the Super Late Model world have already committed to the race, including four-time World of Outlaws champion Brandon Sheppard, reigning World of Outlaws champion Bobby Pierce, Jonathan Davenport, Tim McCreadie, Devin Moran, Brandon Overton, Jimmy Owens and more.

They’ll all compete for a $15,000 payday.

Koehler’s goal is for this to be an annual event that grows into another marquee Super Late Model race, attracting more attention from the racing world to raise more money for the scholarships.

“I want it to be a family thing, I want it to be family oriented,” Koehler said. “It’s been really, really, good to have my family with me. I can never say I know the impact of what that family went through and I don’t want to know. But I do want to support Matt, and I want to support his family and I want to get it out there that there are people here in the sport that also want to support them.”

Sidney will be honored throughout the night, on and off the track. Along with a fundraiser in her name, her car will be used as the pace car, driven by her father.

“There are a lot of memorial races everywhere and you kind of overlook that when you’re a competitor, but now I see the other side of it,” Matt Langston said. “It means a lot. I really didn’t know if I wanted to do it. A lot of people from the racing community didn’t know Sidney. It wasn’t like she was at the track with me all the time and things like that. But my wife and I sat down and talked, and decided to use this as a way to spread love in general. That’s what it’s all about. Sidney had an infectious personality and was just full of life and love. And that’s what I want this race to mean to people.”

Those looking to contribute to the Sidney Langston Memorial Fundraiser can contact the track at flagtoflagracing@gmail.com.

Tickets to the event are $20 and grant access to the grandstands and pits.
